Chapter One: Make the Flight — House of Parnel (2020)

Chapter One: Make the Flight — House of Parnel (2020)

The Vision Behind the beginning.

Make the Flight was born at one of the most uncertain moments in our lifetime. In 2020, the world stood still, fear everywhere, reality shifting in real time.

But even in the darkest moments, I noticed two worlds forming side-by-side: some people were consumed with worry, while others somehow found pockets of sunshine; out on boats, grounding themselves in joy, and choosing life.

That contrast became the heartbeat of the collection.

Make the Flight symbolized choosing light over fear, and elevation over stagnation. it represented the concept of holding on to yourself.

Look 1: Dark Matter set.

This look embodied the darkness we all fall into at times. The heavy moments, the internal shadows, the quiet spaces where transformation begins. Making a home in that darkness is its own superpower. It’s where resilience grows, where clarity forms, and where the deepest gifts are uncovered.

Black, glossy, unapologetically bold. Featuring the circle metal O-ring that connected both sides of the top, paired with flared pants. This look captured the feeling of stepping through fear, standing strong, standing grounded.

Look 2: Venus

Venus Set
Hot pink, stretchy, sun-soaked. A reminder that joy is still allowed even when the world feels heavy. This set was play, beauty, and softness all in one.

Look 3: Venus' Sister

A modern spin on Cher’s iconic 70s criss-cross top. Still hot pink. Still confident. Still radiant. Paired with the same capri pants, but with attitude and a little nostalgia.

Look 4: Coffee & With Creamer

Two versions of the same cozy design: one dark brown, one creamy soft. The tie-back crop top and matching bottoms were made to be functional; lounging, running errands, dressing up or down. Early House of Parnel always celebrated the stomach, softness, and the freedom to reveal yourself.

Behind the Scenes: What It Took to Build This

Make the Flight was my first real test of leadership and creative direction. The power of clear communication, my natural ability to bring people together, even before I fully saw it in myself; and that people want to be part of House of Parnel. Every person on this shoot showed up simply because they saw a vision and believed.

I chose the location, sourced the makeup artist, selected the models, and coordinated everyone who helped set up and even the tent the models changed in. Bre from BXL Visuals helped capture stunning BTS footage, Michael documented the candid moments, and Z0a, a talented photographer, shot the striking final images and handled outdoor lighting.

This was a small team with big heart.

The Clothes — A Limited Capsule

The collection was intentionally small, intimate, and expressive:

Dark Matter (4 pieces)

Venus (4 pieces)

Venus' Sister (4 pieces)

Coffee & Creamer (4 pieces each color)

Everything was limited. Everything was intentional.

This was the moment House of Parnel stopped being a dream and became a brand.
